From July 9th to the 11th, Kojima Productions will running their first and only location test for Metal Gear Arcade before it is officially released in public video arcades. The test will run for roughly twelve hours each day, from 10:00 AM to 00:45 the following morning. The official website for MGArcade has been replaced with time and location details, as well as a number of screenshots from the game. Interestingly, while the maps for MGArcade have so far been taken directly from Metal Gear Online, two brand new maps can be seen in the preview images.
The first map is easily recognizable as “Red Zone” from the Middle Eastern section of Metal Gear Solid 4, most notable for being the first location where Snake can disguise himself as a statue. The second appears to be an adaptation of Outer Haven, also from MGS4. Recently, a number of players have expressed concerns over the lack of updates for Metal Gear Online, as Kojima Productions has recently put more focus on newer titles such as Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, but with these new maps being shown for the Arcade edition of MGO, could a new expansion be in the works?
We’ll keep you update with more news as it becomes available.
